His voice offers an almost infinite range of colors and an art described by the Times as unbearably moving. The German baritone Benjamin Appl and his accomplice James Baillieu invite us to a Lieder Night at the EMC2. A one-hour program around the Germanic Lied, entirely built on the theme of the night and its starry mysteries.
The audience will thus travel from Schubert to Richard Strauss, passing by Schumann, Brahms and Wagner. Some of the highlights of this cycle include Mozart's Abendempfindung and Schubert's An den Mond. We also have the pleasure of hearing less frequently performed works, such as Ständchen by R. Strauss or Warum bist du aufgewacht by the young Schoenberg.
As a former student of Fischer Dieskau, Benjamin Appl clearly holds a piece of the great baritone's legacy, which allows him to be increasingly solicited on the most prestigious stages of the world.
Benjamin Appl has been nominated for the BBC New Generation Artist and the ECHO Rising Star.
