Balade sur les pas d'un métier oublié, le sculpteur sur granit appelé graniteur

During our walks in Chamonix we hardly notice this granite which is used as a decoration for many buildings in Chamonix. And yet it is the soul of a large number of buildings erected in the valley.
The idea of this walk is to take you to discover these blocks of granite called "erratic", deposited by the glacier more than 12000 years ago. To understand the interest of this stone so hard to work only by the Piedmontese bringing in the valley their knowledge. We will look for the numerous traces left by these "graniters" on these blocks located on the edge of the forests as well as on the path where the old granite quarries were located (now abandoned) where nearly 300 workers worked for 80 years.
A very instructive walk which will also allow us to evoke the history of the Glacier des Bois.
