The 49th Congress of the Union des Sociétés Savantes de Savoie will be devoted to the mountains and the high mountains, not forgetting, of course, the mountain men and women! For such a subject, no venue could be more appropriate than Chamonix. Over forty speakers, including historians and art historians, as well as archaeologists, geographers, geologists, biologists, sociologists and other mountain professionals, will be presenting their ground-breaking research for debate. At a time when climate change is calling on us more than ever to invent new ways of living in the mountains, this Congress will certainly be an important moment of reflection.
