About

Departing from Saint-Jean-d'Aulps (74430)
Average length : 01h30

La Voie de l’Oeil is one of the toughest climbs in France and is a contender to become a reference climb. It is etched out of the steepest part of the rock face and offers a very athletic and challenging aerial route. The climb weaves in between overhangs with a succession of challenging, successive passages. There are two linking sections where it is possible to rejoin the easier Tête d’Eléphant route. The climb is approximately 270m in total.
After about 1hr30 of climbing, you will be rewarded at the summit with a stunning panorama of St Jean d’Aulps, the Roc d’Enfer and Mont Blanc in the distance.
The route home is via the forest on the signposted “Couteau” route.
Short rope must be used, attached climbing.
