Archaeological excavations at the Balmes cave have yielded a great deal of pottery, the varied styles of which show that 5,600 years ago, exchanges on both sides of the Alps were very important. This week of experimental archeology proposed in collaboration with the Association of History, Archeology and Heritage of Sollières Sardières is led by the ceramist archaeologist Hélène Wolff who conducts archaeological firing experiments. The highlight is the making of the so-called “millstone” oven, then the firing of the vases made by the participants.
