Thirty of Savoie and Haute-Savoie's rivers are suitable for canoeing and five are fabulous for rafting.
- The Arve: the longest river in Haute-Savoie (107 km) rises at the Col de Balme (2191 m) in the Mont-Blanc Range and merges into the Rhone in Geneva. It flows through magnificent countryside and is home to a number of beavers, which can occasionally be seen along its banks.

- The Doron de Bozel: a tributary of the Isère that rises in the Vanoise and flows through the Bozel Valley before joining the Isère at Moûtiers.
Canoeing clubs: Bourg-Saint- Maurice.
Rafting centres: Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Aime, Bozel, Moûtiers.
- The Dranses: descends from Morzine to Thonon, where it flows into Lake Geneva. Many paddlers believe it to be "the best canoeing river in Haute-Savoie".

Rafting centres: Thonon, Evian les Bains.
- The Isère: Savoie's longest river (286 km) rises at Val d'Isère, and then flows through the reservoir at Tignes before descending into the Haute-Tarentaise and passing through Bourg St Maurice, Aime and Moûtiers. After being joined by the Arc, below Albertville, it continues towards Grenoble.

Rafting centres: Bourg St Maurice, Aime, Bozel, Moûtiers.
- The Giffre: a tributary of the Arve that rises at Mont Roan (on the Swiss border). It has two dams along its course, one at Taninges and one at Mieussy. The Giffre flows through exceptional countryside, including the Cirque du Fer à Cheval and the Gorges de Tines, and goes past the picturesque villages of Samoëns, Morillon, Taninges and Mieussy before it joins the Arve to the west of Cluses.
