Ice diving may sound like a very extreme sport but it can be enjoyed by all. Exploring the surreal world below the frozen surface of a mountain lake is a truly magical experience.
Concealed beneath 30 cm to 2 metres of ice, the quiet waters of a mountain lake provide divers with a marvellous spectacle in which the diffuse light throws up rippling reflections, illuminates twirling bubbles and bursts into breathtaking plays of colour.
Professional diving instructors are available to supervise newcomers to the sport and to provide the specialist equipment needed.
Ice diving schools will provide all necessary safety equipment, including face masks, dry suits and gloves, and special regulators that will not freeze.
Neoprene dry-suits keep you dry and warm.
Useful tip: Take warm clothes because it is after the dive that you will feel the cold!
For complete safety, in addition to qualified supervision, every member of the diving team is attached to a safety line while under the ice.
