Around thirty of Savoie Mont Blanc’s campsites are open in winter. This highly appreciated form of accommodation is attracting ever more holidaymakers every year.
It's a simple enough idea, but someone had to think of it… Around thirty campsites in Savoie Mont Blanc have invested in the facilities needed to welcome holidaymakers in winter. They are an excellent and attractively priced accommodation option for short family holidays in the snow.
Where are they?
Most winter caravan sites are close to a ski resort; a few are even at the foot of the slopes.
Some are in the valleys, allowing their guests to visit several resorts during their stay. Others are in mountain villages and provide a great alternative for those looking for an outdoor holiday but only wishing to ski for a few days in the surrounding resorts.
What types of accommodation are on offer?
Winter caravan sites are ideal for campervan users because the services they provide are more suited to their needs and much more comprehensive than those available at campervan service areas.
Mobile homes and chalets provide a level of comfort that is greatly appreciated in winter.
What are the basic facilities provided by winter caravan sites?
Almost half of Savoie Mont Blanc’s winter caravan sites have three or four stars, which means they offer high quality facilities, summer and winter. Those catering to the winter sports clientele provide the facilities and services needed to ensure guests are comfortable even in the coldest weather: enclosed and heated toilets and showers, ski lockers, pitches cleared of snow...
The extras that make all the difference...
When they are not at the foot of the slopes, many winter campsites run free shuttle buses to the lifts. A heated swimming pool or a spa (provided by at least five campsites) is a real plus after a day’s skiing. A comfortable lounge and heated washing-up and laundry rooms are also highly appreciated.
